AmiZed Recording Studio Hardware

The AmiZed Recording Studio
Wondering what equipment we use to record the podcasts with? Well, wonder no more. Here is where you can find the hardware we use. Most of studio is still in flux as new hardware is added to improve the quality. But without further ado, here’s what we use right now.

The Alesis MultiMix8 USB Mixer
The mixer is an Alesis MultiMix8 USB. It’s an 8 channel, 3 band EQ mixer. The Macbook Pro and the main mic are plugged into this mixer. Since it’s USB, it’s essentially an external soundcard. I am able to send and receive audio to the PC, allowing me to play sound effects back to the Macbook so everyone on Skype can hear the audio.

15″ Macbook Pro w/ Intel Dual Core
The Macbook Pro is a a stock Macbook Pro with Intel Dual Core CPU and is used as the Skype host and is then later used for the final mixdown of the podcast, after the audio is edited in Adobe Audition. The edited audio is then processed and sent back to the Macbook Pro for the final mixdown, then publication.
Software Used
Here is some of the software that is used for the production of the podcast…
- Adobe Audition v1.5
- Garageband 3
- MP3Gain
- Skype
- Audio Hijack Pro (No longer used since we got the mixer)
