This is the first time that I am visiting your site and commenting. I hope to do this regularly. Although it is late, here is wishing you too a happy thanksgiving and all the best for the forthcoming festive season.

In a world beset by cynical opportunism and mass-media driven fear mongering, anything any person is thankful for appears so small and often comes over as selfish.

To hell with it. I am and always have been thankful for the Amiga computer, for the kind of vision and persistence of such men as the late Jay Miner. How many computers designed and built in 1992 are still around and in use today?

That’s why this year I am extremely thankful for the announcement of Traveller, which upon its completion I hope will be cross-ported to OS3.x and will make my Amiga 1200 030 40MHz with 32 MB RAM running OS3.9 that much more useful in this brave new, dare I say, Web 2.0 world.

It might not be as fast as today’s multi-core PCs with Gigabytes of memory and bloated Operating Systems, but that’s not the point. It’s about a legacy. It’s about how if you design something well in the first place, you can be set for many years to come.

I’m sure Jay didn’t think in terms of 15 years. The years past are a testament to NOT thinking in terms of just a couple of years. I will eternally be thankful for that.

First, a Happy Thanksgiving to you all. I wish we had such a secular, or should I say non-denominational, celebration here down under.

Second, ART Episode 16 isn't being picked-up by iTunes. Just a heads-up.

P.S. I'll be up there come Christmas and New Year.
