AmiWest 2007 LIVE
Bill Panagouleas from DiscreetFX was the key speaker for the AmiWest banquet, and here’s what Bill had to say…

Bill Panagouleas keeps the proverbial torch burning. Verily he has earned a special place in my personal Amiga Hall of Fame.
Many years ago, I actually enjoyed creating and giving presentations with the aid of Scala, and sympathised with Bill the instant he made his comment. That thing was the rockingest (i know it’s not a actual word) piece of software I’ve had the privilege to use. I say privilege, because so many Powerpoint users will never have seen, and may never see, something so close to perfection. It’s 2007, I use Apple’s Keynote, and I wonder how is it that in the 21st century most people are content with the myriad of kludge-ware passing-off as industry standards.
There is hope I think. To me, Scala always had the feel of a UI (User Interface) that was designed for touch-screens. With the recent flurry surrounding the Multi-touch interfaces as seen in the iPhone and Microsoft’s Surface, the foundation is laid for a Scala like experience.
The prospect of Aladdin 4D on OS4, Morphos, AROS, Linux and Mac OS X brings a smile to my face. It’s an important step.
I’d also like to thank Bill for his Amiga OS4 on Classic Prize Draw. [Applause]
